It’s that time of year again: in the weeks leading up to the Autumn Showcase (October 21, 2026), everyone’s attempting to make their roadmap predictions for the coming year ahead of the official announcements from Gameloft. In that spirit, I thought I’d take the time to put together a speculative roadmap of my own, based on the 2027 calendar of upcoming Disney events, anniversaries, openings, and releases.
February 2027: Hunchback of Notre Dame. Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame was released on June 21, 1996, and a special line of 30th Anniversary commemorative merchandise was released at this year’s D23 Fan Event (August, 2026). Hot on the heels of that, to not release a Hunchback of Notre Dame Update sometime in 2027 would be a gravely missed opportunity on Gameloft and Disney Games Group’s behalf. For those unfamiliar with the film’s plot, one of the primary events that happens in the film is the Feast of Fools, a festival which traditionally occurs on January 6th (Epiphany Eve or Twelfth Night) and has a great deal in common with the modern Mardi Gras, which generally happens sometime between February 3rd and March 9th every year. This would make a Hunchback of Notre Dame theme perfect for the February update, hopefully leading us to travel to a medieval Parisian realm in order to bring back Quasimodo and Esmeralda. The Star Path for this update might also have a Parisian theme, as Disneyland Paris will celebrate its 35 Year Anniversary on April 12, 2027.
April 2027: Huey, Dewey, and Louie. April 15, 2027 will mark the 90th birthday of Scrooge McDuck’s mischievous grand-nephews, and what better way to celebrate this milestone than by finally bringing them to the Valley? This would be a great opportunity to bring more references to DuckTales to the Valley, which would be exciting for many longtime fans of that Disney Afternoon series. Perhaps the accompanying Star Path might also be themed to the Disney Afternoon, with references to Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, and TaleSpin.
May 2027: Star Wars Adventure Pack. May 25, 2027 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the release of the original Star Wars film in theaters in our galaxy. Ever since the first announcement of Adventure Packs as a concept, folks in the Valleyverse have been anticipating the potentiality of a Star Wars themed one, and to not release such a thing in celebration of this huge milestone would just be nuts, right?
June 2027: The Rescuers. On June 22, 1977, Disney released The Rescuers, making June 2027 it’s 50th Anniversary. For those unfamiliar with this animated classic, it was based on Margery Sharp’s books, The Rescuers (1959) and Miss Bianca (1962), and features two mice, Bernard and Miss Bianca (voiced by Bob Newhart and Eva Gabor), who are members of the Rescue Aid Society, an international organization of mice who are dedicated to rescuing international victims of abduction. I was obsessed with this movie when I was a child! To have Miss Bianca in my Valley would absolutely be a dream come true! The Star Path for this update could highlight retro Disney, with items featuring Pete’s Dragon, The Rescuers, and The Aristocats.
August 2027: Bambi. The original theatrical release of Bambi occurred on August 9, 1942 in London, followed by a US release on August 13th of that same year. That makes August 2027 the 85 Year Anniversary of Bambi. Hopefully this update would allow us to venture to a woodland realm, where we would encounter Bambi and Thumper, and then bring them back to our Valley. This would be a great opportunity for another nature-themed Star Path, similar to the Elements of Nature Star Path featured in the Pocahontas Update of 2026.
October 2027: The Jungle Book. On October 18, 1967, Baloo and Mowgli made their Disney debut on the big screen, which makes October 2027 the 60th Anniversary of The Jungle Book. Given the inevitable return of the Oogie Boogie Takeover next year for anyone who was unable to bring Oogie Boogie to their Valley in 2026, Gameloft will likely feel less pressure to go full-on Halloween with their 2027 October update, which makes room for a more jungle-y update, not dissimilar from the Timon and Pumbaa update of October 2024. This would likely be a realm update (I hope!), and the most likely characters to come to the Valley would probably be Mowgli and Baloo, although if the Huey, Dewey, and Louie update indeed occurs, setting a precedent for up to three characters arriving at the same time, hopefully we might also see Bagheera’s arrival in the Valley. An accompanying Star Path might also feel less pressure to be Halloween-themed, given the return of the Halloween Floating Festival and the ever-expanding Trick or Treat Event, so we might actually see another Parks-themed Star Path at this time, since October 1, 2027 will mark the 45 Year Anniversary of Epcot.
November 2027: Storyteller’s Grove DLC. Note: This is probably the most speculative portion of this entire speculative post! Given that the 2026 DLC, Keepsake Sea, revolving largely around pirates and mermaids and introducing Captain Jack Sparrow into the Valley, debuted less than six months ahead of the Pirates of the Caribbean 60th Anniversary (March 18, 2027), it is my prediction that the 2027 DLC will somehow heavily revolve around the 90th Anniversary of the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (originally released on December 21,1937). Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was the first feature-length animated film ever, and it forever changed the history of cinema. That film isn’t just an important piece of Disney history, it is important to history-history! I have posited the title “Storyteller’s Grove” based on the numerous occasions of Storyteller imagery, motifs, and themes throughout Disney Parks and media, including the Storyteller’s Cafe at the Grand Californian Resort and Spa in Anaheim, the Tales of Magic Fireworks Spectacular at Disneyland Paris, the author storyline from season 4 of Once Upon a Time, and (most importantly) the Storyteller statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse at Disney’s California Adventure. Without the chances taken by our Great Storyteller–Walt Disney–none of this wonderful world in which we live and play would exist. Yes, “it all started with a mouse”, as Walt always liked to point out, but it could be well-argued that, without the success of Snow White, the Walt Disney Company would never have become the empire that it is today. I think that in addition to bringing us all seven of the dwarves, this expansion might also bring Walt Disney himself to the Valley. By October of 2027, there will be two Walt Disney animatronics in Disney Parks: one in Anaheim and one in Orlando. Thus, it would make sense to also finally introduce Walt in the Valley. I think this DLC will have much in common with the Adventure Pack format, centering heavily on one universe, but larger in scale.
December 2027: The Family Madrigal. Tropical Americas may begin a phased opening in Fall of 2027 at Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. This area of Animal Kingdom will feature the world’s first Encanto themed attraction: Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. I think it’s likely that the 2027 holiday update may see us enjoying a Madrigal Family Navidad, possibly even finally gaining an Encanto Realm in the Valley. The most likely characters this might bring to the Valley would be Isabella and Luisa, though a gal can hope we might also finally get to talk about Bruno…. A “Feliz Navidad” Star Path would be a welcome addition to the Valley, bringing with it not only Encanto-themed items, but also items inspired by Coco and the Three Caballeros.
Obviously, time will tell how much of this actually comes to be, but I had a lot of fun putting in the research to come up with these predictions and, when it’s all said and done, isn’t having fun ultimately what life in the Valley is all about? And, if I’m right as often as I hope I might be, perhaps I should change my nom de plume from Mishy Mouse to Little Leota! 😉
